Hello there bag hags! How many of you love to travel? Did you know that travelling boosts your self-confidence? Why is this so? It's because everytime you travel, especially to those places you have never been before, it is always a challenge getting around and exploring that new place.

It makes you talk and mingle with people with different backgrounds and culture.

You need not leave your motherland but if you have the chance of exploring the world then good for you!

I myself, if am not due to go out of the country especially during summer, I go to places around the Philippines that I have never been to yet!

Last summer of 2010, I went to three different provinces that I have never been to in the north.

First was Baler, Aurora. Did you know that it was part of Quezon before? Yes it was but due to government's intervention, it was separated from Quezon and now Baler, Aurora is an independent province. Dark sand beaches but perfect waves for the surfer lovers out there! Cheap but very fresh seafood catch of the day! And of course, the oldest tree in the Philippines!

Next province was Anda, Pangasinan. This is the largest island of the group of the Hundred Islands in Pangasinan. I never knew it existed until we were there! White sand beach and very calm waters even if you are 50 meters away from the shore, the water level is still a little above your waist! Very good place for children with some sand bars that come out during the day and vanishes at night during high tide!

Last but not the least was my northern exposure in the Ilocos Region! Wow it was a five day vacation inclusive of the 12 hour drive from Manila! It was just a mistake of leaving Manila at 2pm but I had no choice since I fetched a friend in the airport in the morning. We arrived Laoag, Ilocos Norte at 2am in the morning! Yikes! But the trip was worth it! About 10am we drove all the way to Pagudpud and stayed at one of the resorts in Blue Lagoon overnight. Left the next day and drove back to Laoag to stay another night and explore the place. Next stop was Vigan and the rest is history...

My next project for this summer will be exploring the south. A road trip again to the Bicol region!

There's a saying in Tagalog that goes: "Huwag maging dayuhan sa sariling bayan." It's true and even with the negative things happening around us, I still feel lucky to be a Filipino with all the cultural heritage and not to mention, the beautiful sights and sounds that comes with it!

So, what do you think? Need I say more that travelling is a must for all of us!

Summer is just around the corner and our beautiful Philippines is just waiting to be explored by YOU!

It's really good when we get to travel into different places in our country. Sometimes we are so apt to traveling around the world but have not really been to most parts of the Philippines.

Love the shots, Ana. Makes me feel like trying Ilocos next time cat. Haven't gone there yet.

yep... aurora used to be part of quezon. the province dot divided and was named after the wife of manuel quezon after her death in an ambush.

anyway, i'm glad that baler is more accessible and safer these days. i think baler is one of the under rated provinces here in the country.

i think it's been 15 years since i've been to hundred islands. again, somewhat under rated. or maybe it was eclipsed by other places like bora, bohol and palawan (my favorite haha!). hundred islands was really famous back in the day. i heard that other islands that used to be uninhabited and prohibited to tourists are now also available for tourists to enjoy.

ilocos sur and ilocos norte, these places are quite far but i would say, it's really, really worth the trip. from well paved roads, lush green sceneries, historical places and structures, local delicacies and food plus the thriving culture. my grandma is a native of paoay, ilocos norte. they lived practically across the church. their ancestral home is now a unesco heritage site.

if you're a fan of vigan longganisa, i'm sure you'll like the ilocos longganisa of ilocos norte. classic bagnet is to die for. literally and figuratively.

bagalicious, if you're planning to go south, i suggest you take rizal-quezon
-bicol route rather than the usual slex-batangas-quezon route. via rizal will let you discover a lot of beatiful places, culture and again, food. Smile

I suggest visit the tourist spot here in the Philippines first. Ang ganda talaga ng Pilipinas.

So far, I've been to these places:

Camiguin
Surigao
Bohol
Cebu
Baguio
Manila

I'm looking into travelling locally myself. My mum made me realise that I've been to several countries but I haven't explored my own country. This should be fun!
